Over the last month or so I’ve been working on new t-shirt designs for my friends band o’death. We ended up going with 3 different designs. 2 were printed on a round of 100 t-shirts each and then a 3rd design was printed on a limited amount of gray sweatshirts.
I’ve been designing and printing t-shirts for a few years now but have never really taken on larger jobs since the way I print is a very diy way, by simple putting a t-shirt down on my printing table, holding the screen down and printing with a small hand squeegie. This way works great is you are only doing a few t-shirts at a time and don’t mind if they all look slightly different, I actually prefer to print my designs this way. But over the last year I’ve been asked to make more and more band shirts and I prefer not to send off my designs to get printing by anyone else, mostly because Portland does not really have a good t-shirt printer on hand. So I decided to take the money from these last few jobs and buy myself a 4 color t-shirt press! I used it for the first time on these shirts and couldn’t be happier! This this is super sturdy and is very easy to use.
I’m hoping this will allow me to feel more confident with my printing skills and open my self up to taking on more jobs and providing something in the community that doesn’t really exist. I can also charge a bit less if I’m doing both the designing and printing.
Below you will find a few shots from the last few days of printing. o’death will be taking these shirts on tour with them on their opening slot for the great band Murder By Death. I will be heading down to the Boston date if you want to come hang out!

Over the next week I will be slowly releasing some of my test prints, maybe 2 or 3 a day. Starting with the My Morning Jacket and Josh Ritter & The Low Anthem prints.
I’ve been holding onto these for awhile now and really love these things! most prints shown here include anywhere from 2 different posters to up to 10 maybe? It’s hard to tell after awhile on some of them. They include MMJ, Josh Ritter, Ted Leo, Mastodon, Marie Stella, Wolf Parade, The Moools, Murder By Death, Moving Mountains, The Sophomore Beat, Caspian, Arms and Sleepers, Panda Bandits, Jesse Pilgrim, Johnny Cash Night at SPACE Gallery, Teeth Print, Deer Tick, Lewis & Clarke and maybe some other’s. All of the prints are printed on top of each other to make individual prints of their own and change drastically every time another print is put on top of the other, some of these prints started by messing up on a print and using that as a text sample when printing other prints, cleaning screens and testing colors. I always keep a stack of old posters near me every time I print a new poster.
These will be available on my Etsy store, and will all be different prices based on the print, quality of the paper, dents and dings, and some of these are printed on thicker stock which might make the shipping vary for different prints. The other cool thing is, is that there is only 1 of each, never to be created again! These will also be signed by me.
If you have any other questions about a specific print please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

Lately I have been hard at work on a poster for the band Murder By Death who are playing Space Gallery in Portland, Maine on Sept. 30th. You can view the poster above.
The poster will be a 4 color screen print on brown Kraft Paper. Ink colors are silver, white, red & black. Edition of the posters is still undecided but will be printed in the coming weeks. I will also be posting more on the process of this later, with lots of drawings from the poster and the printing process also!
I’m very excited to be making a poster for this band. I have been a fan for about 9 years which is a pretty long time, I saw them a few times back in the day. the last time was 2003 at the Asylum in Portland playing with Thursday, Stretch Armstrong, Every Time I die, Norma Jean, This Day Forward, Read Yellow and another band I cant remember. It was 2 shows that were suppose to be at different locations in Portland but because of all of the bands being friends and the two shows being very similiar they decided to just make 1 great big show, which was pretty amazing. The day before that I saw them in New Hampshire at a Skate park.
Below is another image I created for this show which will be used more for handbills and will not be screen printed.
Here you can see the 3 colors seperated
