Details of the print:
Hand printed 2 color screen print.
Measures 12in.-16in. Signed and numbered edition of 70.
Stamped with my emblem on the back of the print.
Printed on 100lb. kraft paper by French Paper Company.

This one has been a little while in the making. The illustration was originally created for a T-shirt the band The Box Tiger which they sell. So hit them up if you want a shirt with this design on it! You can view the shirt here.
I will also be taking a small edition of these prints and giving them to the band once I add their name to them. I’m going to try to make something special out of them for the band so keep an eye out for that soon.

The Telling Room Glitterati poster

Recently I printed this two color poster for Might & Main for Glitterati. An event being thrown to benefit the Portland non-profit writing center The Telling Room.
The poster as well as The Telling Room’s website were expertly designed by Morgan DiPietro! I was just strictly the printer on this one but really like the outcome of printing only gold and silver on black French Paper. Arms and Sleepers/LYMBYC SYSTYM poster for SPACE Gallery

Wow. it’s been awhile since I posted anything on here! Sorry about that. I’m going to try and update this blog a bit more with current projects. If you do come to this blog every once and awhile please don’t think I’ve totally stopped updating and taking pictures of my process. To tell you the truth I’ve been using Instagram a lot more then any other social media platform. You can follow me at (krisgjohnsen). Please do! There is lots more drawing and process shots on there that I used to post on this blog, you’ll also see things first before I post them other places.

This is a new poster that I just designed for one of my favorite bands Arms And Sleepers. It’s at Space Gallery in Portland, ME. They have not played here in a few years and haven’t really been playing out in about a year since I saw them in Cambridge last December in 2012 so this show is really not to be missed, they are joined by Lymbyc Systym who I’ve never seen and Portland local An Anderson.
I’m debating making a small run of screen printed versions of this poster. If so it will change a little and the colors may be slightly different but the same basic design will be there, I will try and stay updated with process pictures if I go forward with this.

Screaming Females Poster

I’m so excited to make a new Screaming Females poster that I decided to make a much larger one then the quick flyers in the last poster and screen print it. This guy is a 2 color screen print. Edition size isn’t counted yet but I made a bunch to hang up around town to promote the show and will probably sell a few the night of the show. Go here for all the info.

New poster for Strawberry Fields – An ice cream shop in Norfolk, VA

Recently I was asked by an ice cream shop no where near where I live to create a poster for their 2 year anniversary. They are called Strawberry Fields. I was pretty happy with the request because it seemed I was hired from the nice person at the shop coming across my older works and wanting me to create a landscape like scene similiar to things I’ve done before but a strawberry field instead. I haven’t done a landscape like this before and I’m pretty happy with the final outcome. It does look much better in large scale so please click on the top image to catch most of the detail. The print is a digital print and measures 18in-24in. Below you can view a photos from the process of drawing the main drawing.

Below this pen drawing is a larger sketch of where I want things to be placed. After I pencil draw that in I start to ink it up.

New Whale Screen Print

Here’s my new Whale Screen Print called “Until The Path is No More.” It’s hand pulled in Portland at my small studio and measures 7in.-12in. It’s two colors and is on 100lb Madero Beach Speckletone French Paper. Signed and numbered edition of 53.
This print was created for the Framed. Group Art Show I put together at Pinecone+Chickadee in Portland this past month. My framed Whale piece is no longer available in the show but I have about 45 prints left of this and and selling them pretty cheap! If your interested in picking one up I have them for sale at my Etsy Shop!

What Cheer? Brigade and Math The Band poster printing

Here’s a new poster myself and Kimberly Convery designed for the What Cheer? Brigade/Math The Band and The Outfits show at SPACE Gallery on May 25th. We had a ton of fun drawing and printing this poster. Basically we just hung out for a few hours and drew up a design for it, not much thinking ahead or planning out, we figured whatever happens, happens. We did the same while printing it, The digital version above has very specific colors for the text while we left the image area plain, but while printing we played around with different color gradients and changing up the colors a lot so each print is a bit different color wise while the black print is always the same. We finished these last night and couldn’t be happier. They will be for sale the night of the show for $5 or something cheap like that so please pick one up from us! I’ll those the leftovers online afterwords or email me at Krisgjohnsen@gmail.com if you are interested. There is an edition of 100 and they are printed on 70lb kraft paper.

Ponomo screen printed business cards

Just printed up this new batch of business cards for my friend Hannah at Ponomo. Which is a Portland based jewelry and leather working company. The pattern on one side of the cards was drawn by me and the text layout by her. These are all one color screen prints with both sides of the card being printed. You can view how I printed 9 cards at once in the 3rd picture, then cut down to size after.

New Edition of my Whiskey & Snakes Screen Print

With the success of my Whiskey & Snakes screen print that I made a small edition of a few months ago, I decided to print a 2nd edition of the print. This edition is of 100 record size prints. You can pick them up here. I also have a AP edition for cheaper on my Etsy Page.
